The Sound & Color Soirée: An Auction Preview Event
Join the Arts Council for a free look at all of selected pieces available in this year’s Auction. This event is FREE and open to the public!
To blend visual and performing arts, attendees can expect the following schedule on the night of the Soirée:
- 4PM: “Doors” – Art around the entertainment space and rotating slideshow on screen. Julie will have a pottery wheel set up for pottery throwing demos!
- 5 – 7PM: Jazz from Kearen Samsel (solo guitar)
- 6 – 9PM: Matilda Wentzel paints live on stage
- 9 – 10:30PM: Amanda Stewart, Thad Beaty and Annie Clements perform on stage to close out the Sound & Color Soirée

There will be a login lounge available to register for bidding, get more information about artists, and ask any questions you may have regarding the Auction for the Arts event.
Auction Artist and Big Sky local, Matilda Wentzel will be painting LIVE at the Soirée. Individuals will have a chance to bid on her painting on the night of the Soirée on February 23rd, and the winning bidder will bring the piece home with them that very same night!

Our Lead Instructor and Studio Manager Julie Edwards will be offering pottery tutorials on-site! She’ll show demos of throwing on the wheel and answer questions about the art classes provided by the Arts Council.

Music will be filling the Indy thanks to jazz-guitarist Kearen Samsel, and songwriter Amanda Stewart with Nashville legends Thad Beaty and Annie Clements who will close out the Soirée.

The Soirée is intended to provide Big Sky’s art enthusiasts an opportunity to engage with the artwork and artists prior to the main fundraising gala on Thursday, March 2nd, at the Montage Hotel, where a ticket is required to attend and a live auction will also take place. The auction’s goal is to support local, regional, and national artists, while raising funds to help sustain the Arts Council’s Contribute-What-You-Can program for its educational offerings. This pioneering model seeks to break down barriers of accessibility and ensure the doors are open to everyone.
